Alexakis Pittes has a long history going back to the mid-1950s. It all began when Ilias Ioannis Alexakis, the father of the current owner, began learning the traditional art of creating pita bread for souvlaki wraps at a bakery in Drapetsona.

Over the years and after working hard in all stages of creating pita breads for souvlaki wraps, he gained valuable experience and knowledge that ultimately led him to the decision to open his own business in the early 1980s.

His love, passion and commitment to tradition were soon rewarded in practice, as the market immediately recognised his efforts. Soon, the initial small workshop could not meet the ever-increasing demand. Thus, in early 1985, the enterprise moved to a privately owned building at 18 Epaminonda St., Kallithea.

After 45 years of ceaseless work, the time came to pass the torch on to the next generation. So, in 1996 the family business was transferred to Ioannis Alexakis, who had already acquired the necessary experience, having been working in the eld from a very young age. Focused on the future, with the invaluable insight of the company’s founder always at his side, Ioannis Alexakis tirelessly continued the company’s growth.

The steady increase in demand domestically and abroad necessitated a new expansion and the full computerisation of all business processes. In 2005 the enterprise moved to a new, 1300 m2 building in the Menidi Industrial Park (Acharnes), located at 35 Ioannou Nika Street, where the new machinery was installed. It could now combine traditional pita bread preparation with the latest production methods.

The year a long-held dream of the Alexakis family comes true: the company moves to new privately owned facilities covering a total area of 11,000 m². There, a third state-of-the-art production line is installed.

Continuous steady growth. Since 2021, production has been enhanced with a new production line at the company’s current facilities at Loutrou Street, consistently increasing its production and sales, which has resulted in its proudly occupying one of the top positions among Greek pita bread producers, with a name that has become synonymous with commitment to quality.
